Excerpt from “Path To Serenity” by Author Isaiah Barber
II, A Love Written in the Stars
I didnât mingle, stayed single, because I believed despite my scars; I would find a love written in the stars.
All my burdens and stains, all my chains, all the times I thought there was no tomorrow, a star would come and deliver me from my sorrow. The torture I felt when I would melt was more than I could take, but I held on to the thought of this star that would take me away into a blossoming day. I wouldnât trade her for every dollar, all the silver, or all the gold in the world because itâs this star I want to hold.
Fate was not kind to me and all I would see is death coming for me. The belief in this love is what I fought to keep, and I forgot how many nights that I would weep but not a peep of this dream I wanted to keep. My faith has been broken O so many times, and when I thought it was over, I would discover that I was still a believer. But in time, this dream had failed to shine.
Years went by, I had forgotten the dream of me and this star and we would go far. One day, I met a girl and my mind became to swirl, and in time, I would discover that deep within my heart I was still a believer. Now that weâre together, I would remember the dream that despite my scars, I would find a love written in the stars.
