Excerpt from our book “Unleashed”
Chainless
In the dungeon of Earth I walk weary
Dragging my shackles and chains
Praying Lord please won’t you hear me
This hell is driving me insane
And who exactly strapped these chains to me
Must’ve done it while I was asleep
The weight of these chains is consuming
I pause in prayer and weep
I drag around the shackles of hatred,
for the chains that others drag around
I’d rather they all be shackled to me
And no one else be dragged to the ground
These links are so thick and heavy
They must weigh an eternity of pounds
While the clanking of the links of envy
Twist the drums of my near around
The shackle of addiction is squeezing
Against my skull and mind
Cutting off the spirits Appeasing
Of the chainlessness I might find
On my arm the chain of anxiety
That teases me wherever I go
And frightens me from propriety
And keeps me from doing what I know
On the other arm the chain of lost time
I can’t go back even one day
The rust from the shackles is seeping into this rhyme
So what else can I say
Save me and set me free
Get these chains up off of me
I know that you have the key
So please come and set me chain free.
