Mud Cookies

Haiti Eating Dirt

Excerpt from “CrossRhodes” by Author Lindsey F. Rhodes

Mud Cookies

Self-sufficiency in order to stay alive
Resorting to unconventional methods in order to survive
Neglected and “adopted” by ways of being objectified
Turning a blind eye knowingly for reasons that are not justified
Desperate cries for help, hunger pains that are very unforgiving
Sky high are food prices, plates of rice too rich for the slum living
Earthquakes and civil unrest leading to unwarranted stress
Simplicity gone in favor of global complexity to see who the best is
Hole in hearts yet no sympathy, does one not witness the hurt?
Young children resorting to “cookies” made from butter, salt, and dirt.
